Some people are a bit disappointed with Julius Caesar because there isn’t very much for the female characters to do. Shakespeare has written a lot of brilliant female characters, but there are only two females in Julius Caesar and they’re not always presented in a very positive way.

JULIUS CAESAR (Royal Shakespeare Company/The Shows Must Go On)****

I have never seen Julius Caesar in the list of Shakespeare’s history plays but he was a real person. He was a Roman consul general and statesman who was born in 100 BC and was assassinated 55 years later. He really was married to Calpurnia (and three other women, sometimes to 2 at the same time) and she apparently really did dream he was going to die. Caesar really was assassinated by a group that was led by Brutus and Cassius on the Ides of March which is March 15th

This production of Julius Caesar is so much fun. It’s not the most cheerful play in the world, but it is still very possible to have fun with it, while still giving a good and meaningful performance. It’s also great to see so many different people who have one very important thing in common: they all love Shakespeare.

Here’s another great production from Shake-scene, the online theatre company who barely rehearses and only gives actor a cue script, consisting of their own line and the cues they need to listen out for. On paper, it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Online, it’s another remarkable piece of theatre.
