SHOWSTOPPER: THE IMPROVISED MUSICAL 23.4.21 (The Showstoppers)*****

By Alba

Link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/showstopper-the-improvised-musical-livestream-tickets-148209118463?aff=SSweb

Available until: 30th April. There’s another livestream tomorrow at 7.30pm.

I think improvising is brilliant. It’s so much cleverer than just remembering stuff which other people made up and it means you never have to learn any lines. I’m going to be the prime minister and that’s a bit like improvising because I’ll get asked loads of questions I don’t know the answer to and loads of questions I don’t want to tell anyone the answer to so if I get bored of ruling the country maybe I’ll be a showstopper because they rule too!

DR SEUSS’S THE LORAX (Old Vic)****

By Alba

Link: https://www.oldvictheatre.com/whats-on/2021/old-vic-in-camera/dr-seusss-the-lorax

Available until: Thursday 15th April at 7pm. Friday 16th April and Saturday 17th April at 3pm and 7pm.

The Lorax is an American children’s story by a guy called Dr Seuss. I asked Megan about him because she’s read everything. She has even read Shakespear and Jane Austin. But she says she’s never read Dr Seuss. That shows there are always good writers you haven’t read yet even if your Megan.

AN ELEPHANT IN THE GARDEN (Barn Theatre)****

By Alba

Available until: 18th April 2021

Age rating: 8+

An Elephant in the Garden is based on a book by Michael Morpurgo. He wrote War Horse too. He writes proper books. I don’t like soppy books and I think Harry Potter is total stinking rubbish but Michael Morpurgo writes about real stuff.

JINA AND THE STEM SISTERS (HMDT Music)****

By Alba

Link: http://www.hmdt.org.uk/hmdtmusic/stemsisters

Available until:

Jina and the Stem Sisters is all about how girls should be scientists if they want. Lots of girls feel like they have to do girly jobs like teachers and hairdressers and librarians and if they want to be boring that’s fine but some girls wish they could do something else instead.

GRIMMZ FAIRY TALES (Stream Theatre)****

By Alba

Link: https://www.stream.theatre/season/40

Available until: 31st March 2021

I’m much too old for normal fairy tales. I’m 9. Or maybe I’m not 9 yet but I will be. By the time you read this I might even be 10.

The Grimmz Fairy Tales have been written for people who are at least 8 so I don’t mind watching it. They do Snow White, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel and Rapunzel in an hour. It’s a good length for a play because there’s less time to get bored.

SLEEPING BEAUTY (Polka Dot Pantomimes/Guildhall Arts Centre)***

By Alba

Available until: Sunday 3rd January

I hope this is an old production. People keep touching each other! There is a pandemic you know! They might be in a bubble but if they are it is a very big bubble. Maybe there was still a Rule of Six when this was filmed but Rule of Six, not Rule of Sixteen!

THE SNOW QUEEN (Cambridge Junction/Tobacco Factory Theatre)****

By Alba

Link: https://www.junction.co.uk/watch-snow-queen from £2.50

Available until: 3rd January 2021

The Snow Queen is a good story. It is all about friends and sorting them out when they are being stupid. Kai gets some glass in his eye and then he’s rude to Gerda and then he goes off and she follows him but she has lots of problems like people wanting to eat her. I would of let him go. If my friends are idiots I get new friends.

COVIDELLA AND THE MASKED BALL (Musical Theatre Academy/Stream Theatre)****

By Alba

Link: www.stream.theatre/season/5

Available until: 7th January 2021

You’re sposed to shout lots at pantomimes so I did. I shouted “Social distance you idiots” and “no touching” and “put your masks on AT ONCE” like I do at school. But it was a bit different because at school most people listen to me. My teacher called me a covid moniter and I said if she’s going to give me a job she got to pay me. I didn’t get payed but I did get to tell lots of people off.

THESE FOLK (Boulevard Theatre)***

By Jack

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyxi6Szbr-o&feature=emb_logo

Available until: no idea

I’d like to go to an improvised show. As soon as they ask for audience participation I’ll think of something impossible for them. Like if they asked me what mundane thing I’d done today I’d tell them I did a poo. Even if I didn’t. It’s not like they can check, is it? Then I’d sit back and wait to see if they go with the motion. I personally think most people do a great impression of a poo. With some people all you have to do is mention poo and they flush. And that was joke number two. Just dropping it in there. Yes I am talking ****.
