LIVING SPIT’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Bristol Old Vic)***

By Dave

Available until: 9th January

Warning: Contains strong language, innuendo and general filth. 12+

Living Spit’s Beauty and the Beast is a modern re-telling of the story. Belle and her father live in a small village in France and everything seems great but her dad has a secret – he owes the Beast. As payment, Belle (not her real name) has to go and stay with the Beast. You probably know how the rest goes.

DICK WHITTINGTON (First Family Entertainment/The Shows Must Go On)****

By Louise

Available until: Sunday 3rd January, probably 2pm

Dick Whittington is a lovely New Year pantomime treat which can be enjoyed by adults as well as children. It is a fun and energetic production with lots of humour and it’s great to see the The Shows Must Go On series continuing into the New Year. I don’t think Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is part of it anymore, but it was originally his idea and it has enabled to me see lots of different productions which I’ve really enjoyed.

SLEEPING BEAUTY (Polka Dot Pantomimes/Guildhall Arts Centre)***

Available until: Sunday 3rd January

I hope this is an old production. People keep touching each other! There is a pandemic you know! They might be in a bubble but if they are it is a very big bubble. Maybe there was still a Rule of Six when this was filmed but Rule of Six, not Rule of Sixteen!

THE PANTO THAT NEARLY NEVER WAS (Theatr Clwyd)***

By Aashiq

Link: The Panto That Nearly Never Was! Online | Theatr Clwyd

Available until: There are performances on 30th and 31st December and 2nd and 3rd January. Access is for 24 hours and begins at 12.01am. BSL signed, audio-described and captioned versions are available.

Seriously if you’re at primary school and you want to watch something a bit rude with good music but which your parents will totally give you permission to watch, you should definitely consider watching this pantomime. You don’t even need to get any money out of them (though if you want to look really virtuous, you can always ask them to donate) as it’s free for under-18s. There’s a lot to snigger at here and I should know.

COVIDELLA AND THE MASKED BALL (Musical Theatre Academy/Stream Theatre)****

By Alba

Link: www.stream.theatre/season/5

Available until: 7th January 2021

You’re sposed to shout lots at pantomimes so I did. I shouted “Social distance you idiots” and “no touching” and “put your masks on AT ONCE” like I do at school. But it was a bit different because at school most people listen to me. My teacher called me a covid moniter and I said if she’s going to give me a job she got to pay me. I didn’t get payed but I did get to tell lots of people off.

CINDERELLA: A SOCIALLY DISTANCED BALL (Turbine Theatre/Theatre Café)****

By Aashiq

Available until: 1st January 2021

Age guidance: 18+ Language, content which could offend or disgust.

I’m quite offended I was asked to review this. I mean, how do they know I’m not under eighteen? I have a fake ID and everything. My fake ID actually says I’m twenty, but nobody’s ever asked to see it. Which is just rude. I do get asked my age sometimes by charity workers who are only allowed to sign up under-25s, but everyone knows they’re just after my money.
