FOR ONCE (Theatr Clwyd)****

By Emma

Link: https://www.theatrclwyd.com/event/secret-stream-5 (hopefully you can still go through the booking process to watch this. If not the youtube video is probably still active. It’s unlisted so I’m not allowed to post it here but maybe Theatr Clwyd can give you the link.)

Available until: Unknown

For Once is the latest play in the series of ‘Secret Shows’ presented by Theatr Clwyd. This is the fourth Secret Show play we’ve watched so I think maybe we missed the first two? Anyway, these plays are announced as Secret Shows and they give you the date and it’s only nearer the time that they tell you what the show is going to be. It is possible to book the sixth one now but it doesn’t say what it is.

ESCAPED ALONE (Theatr Clwyd)***

Available until: Theatr Clwyd productions are usually available for about 48 hours so probably until the evening of 5th December. But don’t quote me on it.

It took me a little while to get into this. I did start to get into it eventually, but the play is so short (fifty minutes), I was more than halfway through by then.

It’s the story of four elderly ladies who meet in the garden for a chat and that’s a bit outside my experience. At first, I had a bit of trouble working out who was who and relating to what they were talking about, and there were some confusing moments where the subject was abruptly changed. I think that was because the play is supposed to be several afternoon meetings which are merged into one long scene, but I wasn’t sure.

GIANT STEPS (Theatr Clwyd)****

By Cal

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpxXLpIpLYs&t=3s (This was a Secret Stream, but it's publicly listed on Theatr Clwyd's youtube channel so I'm guessing it's okay to post the link. I can take it down if not.)

Available until: Unknown

In our lives, we might not spend a lot of time with people who are very different from us. If two people have very different lives, they often never meet, at least not for long enough to form any kind of connection. But sometimes, people who are very different do meet and they find they have more in common than they ever expected. The three characters in Giant Steps are very different, but two of the characters’ paths keep on crossing – and it is through one of the things they do have in common that they meet the third character in this play.
