Jina and the Stem Sisters is all about how girls should be scientists if they want. Lots of girls feel like they have to do girly jobs like teachers and hairdressers and librarians and if they want to be boring that’s fine but some girls wish they could do something else instead.

I think everyone should do whatever job they like and if the men don’t like it stuff them! They are just scared we will be better than them. I am going to a job which only 2 women have done so far and lots of people didn’t like them but they will like me. One day I will be prime minister! I was going to have my own party called the Alba Party but it’s such a good name someone already stole it. I will do stricter laws for masks! All genders and races and orientations will be equal! More money for nurses! Hot meals with no sprouts for all the children! All girls can do science and all boys can do beauty therapy and anyone who thinks they can’t can shut up! And I will always ALWAYS brush my hair before I go on TV.

But science is fun and this play proves it! There has been lots of really clever woman scientists like Caroline Herschel who saw lots of comets before anybody else and she helped her brother William Herschel who discovered Uranus and if someone else had found it it might not have had such a funny name. Mae C Jemison was the first female black astronaut and she spent a whole week in space. Hedy Lamarr had her inventions stolen because some men are BUSTARDS! That’s not a swear word so you can’t make me change that.

Jina gets cross because it’s her birthday and she got girly presents instead of science presents like what she asks for so she goes off in the woods in a big strop and she gets lost and she meets lots of woman scientists who sing songs and tell her about what they done for science. But if your cross you shouldn’t go in the woods on your own because there might be bad people without masks on who have guns who will try to breath covid on you and shoot you so maybe sure you have a risbonsibal adult with you. You don’t have to talk to them or anything. Jina is ok because it is just a story but you are not in a story so you need to be safe.

The puppets are really good. I like how Ruth Calkin and Nix Wood the actors make them move. Sometimes they pull the puppet’s hair and that’s funny. The singing is really good to. Nadine Benjamin and Abigail Kelly are 2 of the singers and I know who they are. They have sung in opera for places like the Royal Opera House and English Touring Opera and Scottish Opera. There is lots of different styles like Caroline is an opera singer which she really was and Hedy sings like a foxtrot song.

 

I think it is a really good story and I hope we will do better science at school because it sounds fun.
