Sometimes there’s one person you can’t quite let go of. No matter how hard you might try to move on with your life, there’s one person you can’t forget. One person you want to see just one more time – if one more night can really be enough.

One More Night with Meera, one of the audio plays in Thornhill Theatre Space’s #TTSFringe2, is the story of a meeting between two people who once loved each other. Or maybe they love each other still.

Lakshya Datta has written a beautiful and very moving play about two people whose relationship ended some time ago. Like many relationships, it had unfinished business. Perhaps this meeting is necessary in order for them both to move on – or perhaps they’ll conclude it isn’t possible.

It is difficult to guess from this gentle, almost lyrical play what will happen to these two characters and what decision they will make, but it’s fair to say the ending wasn’t what I was expecting but it still seemed like the right ending.

The two characters are very likeable and the connection between them is really strong. One More Night with Meera is such a great example of creating good drama between former lovers without having them screaming at each other. The conversation can be calm and measured and still full of emotion.

Gauri Saxena is a loving and kind Meera, gently guiding and supporting Rijul Kataria’s sweet and less certain Neel. It’s a lovely conversation and a lovely couple and you have to wonder if it’s really too late.

This is such a great idea for a play and the characters are perfect for the story. And I love the ending.
