This is a play about a man with serious kebab envy.

But not in the way you’re almost certainly thinking.

Gareth Chaney-Brownbill has written a very amusing and very clever play about a man who sees another man with two kebabs and immediately wants one. It’s a comedy on the surface, but there’s also a deeper issue of wanting what you can’t have; wanting what you shouldn’t have. And slowly being overpowered by that feeling of need.

Dan Phillips directs Steve Byron, who performs the play brilliantly. The play is five minutes long and could probably have been quite a lot shorter, but Steve really savours each word, creating each image faultlessly with his voice. With each word, the tension slowly rises. I had no idea what the character was going to do next, but I really enjoyed finding out.
